New gonorrhoea vaccine
5 June 2025.
We welcome the recent NHS England announcement that the 4CMenB vaccine for gonorrhoea will be rolled out in local authority-commissioned sexual health clinics in England in August.
It’s hoped that the vaccine will prevent thousands of gonorrhoea cases over the next decade.
Individuals eligible for the vaccine include gay and bisexual men with a recent history of multiple sexual partners or who have a sexually transmitted infection (STI).
The Guardian reported that other parts of the UK are also planning to roll out the vaccine, with sexual health clinics in Wales offering eligible people the vaccine from August, and Scotland and Northern Ireland also working on plans to offer the vaccine.
FPA’s Gonorrhoea guides
At FPA we’ll be updating our comprehensive online patient information guide on gonorrhoea to include information about the vaccine, who is eligible for it, and how to get it.
An update to our gonorrhoea booklet will follow.
In the meantime – we’ll add updates here on this page.
