Gonorrhoea and syphilis hit record levels in Europe (and free samples)
3 Jun 2026.
- Gonorrhoea at 106,331 cases – a 303% increase since 2015
- Syphilis at 45,557 cases – a 200% increase since 2015
- Chlamydia remains the most frequently reported STI with 213 443 cases
As you may have seen, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) has released some worrying sexually transmitted infections numbers.
The latest STI data covers 2024. And while the ECDC no longer includes the UK – UK STI data shows a similar picture of STIs at, or near, record levels.
