Quiz time – answer 7 – Family Planning Association

Lesson 3: Period dramas

Quiz time – answer 7

Question

  • What does it mean for someone to ‘own their period’?

Answer

  • Everyone’s experience of their period will be unique. Owning your period is understanding what a “normal” period is for you – for example, how long and how much you bleed.
  • It is really important to know what is “normal” for you so you can be aware of any changes or missed periods.
  • Any changes or missed periods should be discussed with a doctor or nurse.
  • If someone knows how their period affects their body and their mood, it can be really empowering as most problems can be resolved when they’re identified and discussed with a healthcare professional.
