FPA welcome the Health Minister Matt Hancock’s pledge for zero new HIV transmissions in England by 2030, and encourage his plans to double the number of places on the PrEP trial.

This goal is only achievable with proper funding and investment into sexual health care, including an extension of PrEP across the country, and greater funding for sexual health clinics.

Although the UK is currently exceeding the United Nations’ 90-90-90 targets, to continue this trend prevention must be tackled from all angles. The government must now create a plan with leading campaigners, set timetables and allocate a budget towards meeting this goal.
