Useful documents and resources

There are many useful documents and resources to support people working in the sexual and reproductive health sector to provide, deliver and commission the highest standards of care.

FPA produces a broad range of Information Standard accredited patient information. It is regularly updated, based on FSRH and BASHH guidance and covers all methods of contraception and sexually transmitted infection.

  • The Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (FSRH) produces clinical standards and recommendations on issues relating to reproductive health. Information is available here
  • The British Association of Sexual Health and HIV (BASHH) produce clinical standards and recommendation on issues relating to sexual health. Information is available here

Quality Standards

NICE Quality Standards set out the priority areas for quality improvement in health and social care. The following Quality Standards relate to sexual and reproductive health.

Nice guidelines

NICE guidelines provide advice on the care and support that should be offered to people who use health and care services. Relevant guidelines include:

  • Public Health England’s, Sexual and Reproductive Health Profiles have been developed to support local authorities to monitor the sexual and reproductive health of their populations. They include indicators relating sexually transmitted infections, contraception, abortions and conceptions.

Safeguarding advice for SRH telemedicine

In case you are not already aware, here are five short documents offering practical advice to SRH practitioners on how to identify and manage safeguarding issues within telemedicine.

They have been developed by Mary Kyle, Senior Sexual Health Advisor at PHE National Sexual Health Helpline, in collaboration with the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare, the British Association for Sexual Health and HIV, Public Health England and Brook.
