“The exercises made me stop and think about my actions.”
Course participant, Medway Council

A one-day course for people on the front line of primary care including reception and administration staff working in surgeries, contraception or genitourinary medicine (GUM) clinics.

Reception staff have a key role to play in providing a non-judgemental, confidential and sensitive sexual health service, especially to young people. Yet very few front-line workers are offered ongoing training and development in sexual health issues.

Organisational strategies often emphasise the role that education and training play in equipping everyone working in the field to provide good quality sexual health services. This includes those who have a clinical/medical qualification, as well as those who do not.

This course seeks to enable front-line staff to develop those skills necessary for working in reception and for providing a good quality sexual health service. This course uses the ‘You’re welcome’ quality criteria throughout.
