We are delighted to announce that the winner of the 2012 Pamela Sheridan Award is Shropshire Council's Respect Yourself Relationship and Sex Education Programme.
Their award was presented by Alison Hadley OBE (Department for Education) and Susan Quilliam (relationship psychologist and co-author of The New Joy of Sex) at the UK Sexual Health Awards 2012.
The project was also recognised by Sarah Teather MP, the Minister for Children and Families. She said:
“The Importance of Teaching – The Schools White paper 2010, makes it clear that children need high-quality sex and relationship education (SRE) so they can make wise and informed choices.
“The Shropshire Respect Yourself Relationship and Sex Education Programme is well deserving of the Pamela Sheridan Award, providing a platform for primary and secondary schools to learn and improve on the delivery of SRE. My congratulations to all who worked hard to create an SRE model which stems from effective collaborative work amongst key partners; including parents, teachers, pastoral staff and governors. A very well done to all.”
The judges also highly commended Sense Interactive's Welsh Initiative CDs.
Congratulations to all the shortlisted entrants for their inspiring work.
