Welcoming the opening of the new Marie Stopes International (MSI) sexual health clinic in Belfast, Dr Audrey Simpson OBE, Director of FPA in Northern Ireland said:
“This is a historic moment for women's reproductive rights in Northern Ireland.
“MSI is an international organisation who work within the legislation in the country they are operating in – which they will do here in Northern Ireland.
“We know from our own work that women face real challenges accessing abortion services. Around 1,000 women leave Northern Ireland every year to pay for an abortion in England. This new service will give women more choices that they need and deserve.”
