Major sexual health collaboration announced

published on 08 Mar 2012

Two of the country’s leading sexual health charities and the biggest condom brand in the UK have announced a collaboration which aims to create a step change in the UK’s sexual health.

Brook, FPA and Durex have agreed a three year programme of work which will deliver a range of information events, public awareness campaigns and learning materials for a wide range of audiences all designed to improve people’s sexual health.

A team working across Brook and FPA will be developing a range of campaigns and activities throughout the next three years and identifying new ways to deliver strong sexual health improvement messages to the public and healthcare professionals. Durex is providing an educational grant and support in kind to Brook and FPA to deliver the programme.

In a joint statement, the Chief Executive of Brook, Simon Blake and the Chief Executive of FPA, Julie Bentley, said:

“We have a long history of working together with Durex and as three organisations we share a belief that people should have access to accurate, high quality information about all aspects of sexual health. This programme of work demonstrates how by different sectors working together we can achieve a bigger more sustainable impact on the sexual wellbeing of the UK.”

Refik Oner, RB Category Manager, Health & Personal Care, said on behalf of Durex:

“Sexual health is at the core of the Durex brand.  In our view there is no more effective way to help make the much needed step change in attitudes than to support these two charities, which between them have over a hundred years of experience and expertise.  We are very pleased to be a part of this collaboration and look forward to the programme developing successfully.”
