All About Us, fpa's unique interactive CD-ROM on sex and relationships, designed specifically for people with learning disabilities, beat off tough international competition in the prestigious E-Learning Awards on the 12 October. It has won silver in the ‘Excellence in the production of learning content’ category.
The E-Learning Awards, held in London's Mayfair, sets the standard for industry achievements. All About Us developed by fpa and Belfast-based e-learning company Aurion Learning, was one entry from over 150 submitted by high profile organisations across Europe.
Developed over three years, the All About Us CD-ROM is the only interactive resource of its kind in the world. It gives people with learning disabilities information on sex, relationships and sexual orientation and is designed to be a resource that is easy and fun to use. It covers understanding emotions, keeping safe, what it means to become an adult and appropriate behaviour in public and private spaces.
Speaking about the Award, Dr Audrey Simpson OBE, Director of fpa, Northern Ireland said:
“The team are absolutely ecstatic to have won this. All About Us is already an invaluable educational tool empowering people with learning disabilities, their parents and professionals working with them to discover the facts about sex and relationships. To receive industry recognition of its importance is the icing on the cake.”
Dr Maureen Murphy, Managing Director at Aurion Learning commented:
“We are delighted to have won this Award particularly in light of the high standard this year which in our category included entries from some of the best in the industry.”
All About Us costs £19.99 and is available from FPA publications and resources.
