FPA responds to the National Audit Office Report: Young People's Sexual Health, The National Chlamydia Screening Programme

11 November 2009

Reacting to the report from the National Audit Office revealing that the National Chlamydia Screening Programme ‘had not demonstrated value for money’ and that ‘NHS resources were being poorly used’, Natika H Halil, Director of Information for fpa said:

“There are many lessons to be learned from this report. With any sexually transmitted infection – testing and treatment must go hand in hand. In order for testing to be medically successful and cost effective, a robust framework must be in place. Although a disappointing read, this report is helpful because there's clear advice to every organisation involved at national and local level about what needs to change to improve this situation”.
