We're delighted to announce that the winner of the 2012 Rosemary Goodchild Prize for excellence in sexual health journalism is Sophie Goodchild for Men's Health magazine for the feature Free Love – What Happened to AIDS?

Commenting on why Sophie won, our guest judge Catherine Bennion-Pedley, Senior Features Writer with Company, praised a “well-researched feature which was presented well. We could really see it informing the Men’s Health reader on an important topic and changing attitudes and behaviour as a result.”

Sophie was presented with her award by Marc Goodchild (Rosemary Goodchild’s son and trustee of the award) and Zoe Margolis (aka Abby Lee – writer of the blog and book Girl with a One-Track Mind) at the UK Sexual Health Awards 2012.

About the Rosemary Goodchild Award

The Rosemary Goodchild Award celebrates the best writing about sexual health issues.

The annual £500 prize is decided by FPA and a guest health journalist. Winning articles have discussed themes as varied as vasectomies for men and the best sex toys for women.

The award was established by the family of former FPA Press Officer, Rosemary Goodchild, who died of ovarian cancer in 1988.

Who can enter?

The award is open to all national and regional press, consumer magazines and professional journal writers.

Commissioned articles appearing as online content on UK websites only are also acceptable.
