Female condom

A soft, thin sheath loosely lines the vagina and covers the area just outside.

It is made from polyurethane (plastic) or nitrile polymer (synthetic rubber).

Condoms are the best way to help protect yourself against sexually transmitted infections.

Female condoms are free from contraception clinics and young people's services, and some general practices and genitourinary medicine (GUM) clinics. You can also buy them from a pharmacy or by mail order.

They are not as widely available as male condoms.
