FPA policy on linking to private organisations

We can add links to private organisations from Where else can I get help?.

Please read the requirements below and if you fulfil these, then email websuppprt@fpa.org.uk for inclusion on our website. All requests will be thoroughly checked and you may be emailed if additional information is required.

Your organisation will need to provide evidence that:

  • The information you provide is clinically accurate in accordance with FPA criteria. We make sure that all our clinical information is in line with the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare. If information is not clinically sound FPA will not link to it.

  • The information you provide is factually accurate. We make sure that our site uses the most current and up–to-date research and statistics available.

  • You are registered with the Care Quality Commission (previously the Healthcare Commission) and/or General Medical Council (GMC). Independent clinics need to register where services are provided by medical practitioners as defined under section 2(4) of the Care Standards Act 2000. From the autumn of 2009, all doctors wishing to practise medicine in the UK must be a licensed medical practitioner. This means they will have to hold both registration with the GMC and a licence to practise.

  • If you are a pharmacy you have the right to use the internet pharmacy logo and have this displayed on your website, as this will indicate that not only are you registered, but that you are also regulated by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain.

As a general rule FPA does not take funding from private services listed, instead we include information which is relevant to our user group, for example details of private clinics that provide testing for sexually transmitted infections.

There may be cases where we do provide a link to an organisation which has sponsored an event, such as one of our awareness weeks. However, we would only provide the link if the information fulfilled the main requirements and checks as outlined in this policy. We do not link to directories.

Please note that links may take up to ten working days to process from time of receiving the request. Please also read our policy on links to external websites.
