Funding for abortion services for women travelling to England from Northern Ireland
FPA is seeking clarity on the government’s announcement of funding for women from Northern Ireland travelling to England for an abortion.
As yet, we don't know when the policy will be implemented or how funding will be accessed. We are working with MPs to find out the details as quickly as possible for the women we work with.
In the meantime, the British Pregnancy Advisory Service (bpas) has stopped charging women living in Northern Ireland for abortion care. Bpas will also refund any women from Northern Ireland who have had a consultation or treatment since Friday 30 June. More information is available on bpas’ website.
If you have an unplanned pregnancy, or are pregnant and not sure what to do, and you live in Northern Ireland, contact our non-directive counselling service on 0345 122 8687.
