Our facilitator training equips your staff to deliver the FPA Speakeasy course to parents and carers. Organisations whose staff can benefit from this training include local authorities, health promotion services, children’s centres and Sure Start centres.

Speakeasy facilitator training
Book a place on our next open training course

Speakeasy facilitator training equips staff with the skills and knowledge to deliver the accredited Speakeasy parent course. As part of the training, staff will be expected to deliver a Speakeasy parent course before their final accreditation day.

This training is Open College Network (OCN) accredited (nine credits; level three).

Free Speakeasy: talking to your children about growing up book for all participants!

Number of days: three including accreditation day; plus delivery of the FPA Speakeasy parent course
Total hours of learning: 90 (including delivery of the Speakeasy parent course)

Speakeasy – ready to run

The first two days of the full Speakeasy facilitator training. This training will enable staff to deliver the Speakeasy parent course without accreditation.

Speakeasy lite

An overview of the Speakeasy approach and an introduction to the resources available to staff.

Total hours of learning: seven
Number of days: one
Cost: £1,000 for up to 20 staff
Cost includes: Speakeasy: talking to your children about growing up book
Cost does not include: venue costs, refreshments, trainer travel, subsistence and accommodation

Speakeasy training the trainers

One day training for staff who have completed the full Speakeasy facilitator training, so that they can deliver the training to others. Staff must have relevant prior experience to take part in this training.

Cost: £500 for up to five staff
Cost includes: training guide
Cost does not include: venue costs, refreshments, trainer travel, subsistence and accommodation

Speakeasy catch up day

A chance for non-accredited staff to complete their Open College Network (OCN) accreditation. Suitable for those who have already taken Speakeasy training days one and two and delivered an accredited parent course.

Cost: £200 per person or £2,000 for up to 12 staff
Cost includes: accreditation costs (professionals)
Cost does not include: venue costs, refreshments, accreditation costs (parents), trainer travel, subsistence and accommodation

Courses for parents and carers

Speakeasy courses for parents and carers are often delivered via local schools or community groups. In addition, looked-after children services and learning disability services might run courses locally.

Speakeasy4parents session

A two hour Speakeasy session offering an introduction to the subject, including why parents need to discuss growing up, sex and relationships with their children.

Speakeasy accredited course for parents and carers

The fully accredited Speakeasy course for parents and carers.

Equivalent to 16 hours learning, usually over eight sessions.
