Project work in Lambeth, London, 2006–2009

Promoting sexual health among minority ethnic women by:

  • Running  free sexual health information groups for minority ethnic women.
  • Training workers from within communities to continue delivering the work.

 

Lambeth project June 2007

fpa Project Worker Pat Grey (above right) discusses Lambeth Minority Ethnic Women's Project at its first celebration, on 21 June 2007. Developed in partnership with Lambeth Teenage Pregnancy & Parenthood Partnership, the project provides health information for women over the age of 16 from different minority ethnic groups.

Training

A new training programme for professionals is available to any organisations in Lambeth which also want to carry out this type of work. Course spaces for women are now available to start in September. For more information contact Terri Ryland on 020 7608 5262 or email terrir@fpa.org.uk.

fpa has a wide range of sex and relationships education publications and resources. These include Beyond Barbie, a worker's compendium which promotes community-based sex and relationships work as a model for positively contributing to the sexual health of African-Caribbean girls and young women.
