The campaign raised awareness about long-acting reversible methods of contraception (LARC): the IUD, IUS, implant and injection. Long-acting methods are defined as those that do not have to be thought about on a regular basis or do not rely on the user for their effectiveness.
On 26 October 2005, the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) issued guidelines to professionals and information for women on LARC, to promote greater contraceptive choice. Many women are unaware of these methods, which may suit them better than their current method or offer better protection from pregnancy.
