Unplanned pregnancy inquiry report, December 2012

The cross-party inquiry into unplanned pregnancy has released a report calling for a national strategy to address unplanned pregnancy. Key recommendations include:

• the introduction of statutory, comprehensive sex and relationships education (SRE), with a focus on relationships, informed choice and self-esteem
• the need to address inconsistent contraception access, particularly for older women.

The report included a recommendation for a kite mark system to assess and approve external agencies providing SRE in schools.

Cross-party unwanted pregnancy inquiry launched, September 2012

Amber Rudd MP is leading a cross-party inquiry into unwanted pregnancy in the UK. As the UK’s leading sexual health charity, FPA was invited to give evidence to the Inquiry.
