Responding to new abortion statistics showing a rise in the number of women travelling from Northern Ireland to Great Britain for an abortion, Dr Audrey Simpson, Director of fpa in Northern Ireland said:
“This highlights the fact that women in Northern Ireland will at certain stages in their life need to have an abortion and these women should be treated with respect and compassion.
“Politicians must recognise that women in Northern Ireland will always need abortions and they should fulfil their statutory obligations by legislating for easier access to abortions in Northern Ireland.”
